Overview
Sustainability starts with the soil. This intern acts as the liaison between the urban-centric Planet Run events and the rural agricultural hinterlands. Your goal is to bring stories of farmers to the city and take the message of sustainable living to the villages. You will explore how the movement can support organic farming and rural livelihoods.
Key Responsibilities
Visit rural clusters to identify progressive farmers practicing organic or sustainable agriculture and document their stories.
Help organize "Farmers' Markets" or organic stalls at the Planet Run venue to directly connect producers with urban consumers.
Organize satellite runs or awareness camps in rural schools and panchayats.
Collect data on rural challenges related to climate change (e.g., crop failure due to erratic rain) to inform the movement's advocacy.
Work with rural Self Help Groups to source eco-friendly materials (like jute bags or leaf plates) for the event.
Skills & Qualifications
Understanding of rural socio-economic dynamics and respectful engagement with farming communities.
Willingness to travel to villages and work in rustic environments.
Agriculture, Rural Development, Social Work, or Anthropology students.
Fluency in the regional language is essential.
