Overview
The GIS (Geographic Information System) & Mapping Intern answers these questions visually. You will use mapping technology to plan routes, identify environmental hotspots, and visualize the spatial impact of the movement.
Key Responsibilities
Create precise digital maps of run routes using tools like Google Earth or Strava, marking elevation, distance, and key landmarks.
Map participant density to identify which neighborhoods are under-represented.
Use satellite imagery to identify potential sites for mass tree plantation or water body restoration.
Conduct GPS surveys to geotag every tree planted or waste spot cleaned.
Create high-quality maps for event brochures, permissions, and impact reports.
Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge of QGIS, ArcGIS, Google Earth Pro, or GPS data handling.
Understanding of topography and spatial data.
Geoinformatics, Geography, Civil Engineering, or Urban Planning students.
Willingness to validate satellite data with ground truthing.
